Activities that you can do with your child

There are some great motor skill games you can do with your child at home, such as singing songs with movement, like row your boat. Sit on the floor and hold each others hands and put your feet together and do the motion of a row boat. You can make up some great movements with this song.

Playing on the trampoline is another great activity to try, as children with autism love motion and it can relax them.

Playing with bouncy balls, drawing and painting .Going out in the garden to grow and water plants it a great way

to bond with your child its something to do together

and talk to your child about the world around them how things work .

Sensory Activities for your child

The sensory system is very complicated and things can get very overwelming for our children. There are many sensory activities you can do with your child from playdough to playing with water, which a lot of children with autism like to do. Sand is fine and has a good texture to it as well. Another great sensory activity is using corn flour and water, with  a little food die. sensory bottles are great also. Just add glitter and water to a bottle and glue lid. do not use baby oil it can harm your child and lead to death if they drink it. A good idea is to put some cotton buds in to give it some weight .

Communication Actvitives

Communication is a big part of the problems that children with autism have and it is one of the biggest challanges for our children. Keeping up with regular communication skills is a vital part of their routine.

Activities such as reading books using flash cards and taking turns in a board game should help build on communication skills. including visual aid's to show the child what is next will help the child feel calmer.

Teaching our child to blow up a balloon is an activity that helps with using mouth, lips and breathing in and out. It teach's them to build those muscles and is similar to blowing out a candle.

Playing duck duck goose is another example. It's a repetitive game where you keep using the same words so it will build your child's confidence to use words.

Taking them to the park to play with other children will help show them how other children are communicating. Visual aid's are a vital tool for nonverbil children .
